The town of Burgaw may seem remote from Tinseltown, California, but it has been a star in its own right as the backdrop for many Hollywood movies. Now moviegoers can visit these places on their own.
Pender County Tourism has announced the launch of Pender County Film Tours with the Hometown Hollywood Film Tour in downtown Burgaw.
The Pender County Tourism Department created the Hometown Hollywood Film Tour, a walking tour based on locations from well-known movies and TV series filmed in Pender County, focusing on historic downtown Burgaw , the courthouse square and the familiar storefronts.
“We are delighted to present this cinematic walking tour of downtown Burgaw,” said Olivia Dawson of Pender County Tourism. “Pender County and the Town of Burgaw have been popular popular locations for many movies and TV series.”
Shops, parks, schools, street corners, the courthouse square and more are the backdrops for dozens of productions, including Stephen King’s Silver Bullet (1985), i know what you did last summer (1997), The Runaway (2000), The divine secrets of the Ya-Ya brotherhood (2002), Idlewild (2006), Tammy (2014) and TV series Revolution (2012) and Under the dome (2013).
