Simu Liu waxed his body for the new film “Barbie”.
The 33-year-old actor appears alongside Margot Robbie in the highly anticipated new film, and Simu admits having his body waxed was a “painful” experience.
He shared, “Waxing was an education to say the least. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life. I have a whole newfound admiration for the incredibly brave women who go through this every day. month.”
The “Barbie” movie has become a source of much speculation over the past few months, and Simu loves that so little is still known about the project and how it was approached.
He told The Independent: “Honestly, the online discourse brings me to life. With every casting announcement or news, they’re like, ‘What the hell is this? And that’s perfect – the less you know, the better.”
Meanwhile, Simu previously revealed that he was happy to accept any role at the start of his career.
The ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ star initially pursued a career in accounting, before pursuing her true ambitions in film.
He said: “I felt like I was making up for lost time. My perception was that everyone was further ahead than me, so if I had a chance I had to catch up.”
Simu also discovered that opportunities were limited for actors of Asian descent.
He noted that Hollywood didn’t have “those political conversations” at the time.
He said: “At first, if I was a stuntman who was getting beaten up by one of the white male characters, I was over the moon.
“Survival mode. Find a way to get on the sets, find a way to work, that was it.”
