Cha Cha real smooth seems like romance, drama and comedy all rolled into one. What do you call that? A romantic comedy?
Anyway, Apple TV+ just released the first trailer for the unconventional romance starring Dakota Johnson and Cooper Raiff. It will air on June 17.
Cha Cha Real Smooth’s Apple TV+ Trailer Looks Awkwardly Funny and Sweet, But Also Dramatic
Apple TV+ has acquired the streaming rights Cha Cha real smooth earlier this year. The film, directed by Raiff, won the Audience Award at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival.
The story centers on Andrew (Raiff), a 22-year-old fresh out of college with no prospects for the future. He lives at home with his parents and younger brother in New Jersey.
His life changes when he is hired as a “party goer”, or some sort of motivational dancer, at bar and bat mitzvahs held for his younger brother’s classmates.
He’s at one such party when he befriends Domino (Dakota Johnson) and his daughter Lola (newcomer Vanessa Burghardt). As he grows closer to them as Lola’s babysitter, he begins to realize what he wants out of life. The trailer shows a complex and risky love triangle that begins to form with Andrew, Domino and her fiancé as the tips.
Cooper Raiff writes, directs and stars alongside Johnson, Burghardt, Brad Garrett, Leslie Mann and Evan Assante. Picturestart, Teatime Pictures and Endeavor Content produced the film.
Cha Cha real smooth premieres June 17 on Apple TV+ and in select theaters. Apple TV+ is available by subscription for $4.99 per month (with a seven-day free trial) or as part of any tier of the Apple One subscription plan.
