Salma Hayek is “so grateful” that she didn’t land a superhero role until “Eternals”.
The 55-year-old actress – who plays Ajak in Marvel’s new blockbuster – described the role as “an honor” and admitted that being cast in the film means more because it was passed on for so long. opportunities in the past.
She told Digital Spy: “I have this weird feeling that this is the movie I belong to.
“I don’t know what that says about me, maybe because I’m a rebel and I like to fight for different things and it’s so special. It’s an honor.
“I was complaining like, ‘How come they never call me for this movie? I’ll never be a superhero…’ and I’m so grateful no one called me.
“Thank you for not thinking of me because then I would not have been asked [for this]. “
The film was shot on location in Camden and elsewhere in London, and filming without a green screen had a big impact on the cast.
Hayek added: “It was part of the beauty of filming in real places. It helps a lot. It creates an atmosphere.
“I have to say though, one thing that surprised me, a lot of it was shot around London.
“There are so many beautiful woods in London, there are so many and so different from each other. I live here and I was like, ‘Wow, I don’t know this place at all.’ “
Likewise, his co-stars Kit Harington (Dane Whitman) and Richard Madden (Ikaris) loved the opportunity to shoot in such a familiar area.
Madden said, “It was surreal on set. We were out on the street like, ‘Are we at work now because we got drunk here and hung out a lot there.’
“It was really cool because we’re all friends from before this movie anyway, so it was really nice to be in Camden.
“I had to hang wires over the bridge in Camden and walked that bridge a hundred times, but never saw it from that angle.”
